Drop a ball in the chute by 07:15 on a Saturday and the draw is made on the 1st tee. The scratch and handicap sides play around twenty matches a season against neighbouring heathland clubs.

Five ways
to belong
Subscriptions run from 1 April and are paid by direct debit in ten monthly instalments. The joining fee is paid once, on election.
Subscriptions for the year from 1 April 2026, agreed at the AGM each June. Every category pays the same England Golf and county levy.
Full seven-day
For golfers of 30 and over who want the course every day of the week, and a hand in how the club is run.
- Playing
- Seven days a week, first light to dusk. The weekend tee sheet opens to members at 19:00 on the Sunday before.
- Competitions
- Every club competition, from the Saturday medals to the Club Championship and the knockouts.
- Guests
- Up to three at a time on any day, at the members’ guest rate of £60, or £45 in winter.
- Locker
- Optional, in the men’s or ladies’ locker room, beside the drying room.
- Vote
- A vote at the AGM in June and the right to stand for committee.

There is usually a waiting list for Full seven-day membership, at present around twelve months. Many applicants join as Five-day members and move across when a place comes up, paying the difference in joining fee then.

- Monday to Friday, and from 15:00 on Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays.

- All midweek competitions, the Wednesday Stableford and the section matches.

- 24 rounds a year on any day, signed in at the pro shop. Further rounds at the members’ guest rate.
- Competitions
- The Spring Meeting and open competitions. The club championships and knockouts are for full members.

- One guest per round, at the members’ guest rate.
- Locker
- Optional, and useful for keeping a set of clubs here between visits.
- Vote
- Country members are welcome at the AGM but do not vote.

Junior
For golfers aged 10 to 21, coached through the Academy and brought on to the course as their golf allows.

- Weekdays from 14:00 in term time, all day in the school holidays, and weekends after 15:00.
- Competitions
- A junior competition every month, and the club competitions once your handicap is 20 or under.
- Guests
- With a parent or an adult member.
- Locker
- Pegs and a boot rack in the junior room, at no charge.
- Vote
- No vote until 18. Juniors elect their own junior captain each spring.

A season
at the club
Something on most weekends from April to October, and a winter league to keep the swing going through the dark months.
Saturday medals
First Saturday, April to October
Strokeplay off the white tees, counting for handicap. Cards in the box by 14:00 and the results on the board before the bar closes.
The Spring Meeting
Second Saturday in May
Thirty-six holes in a day with lunch in the Long Room between rounds. The Wrenmoor Salver goes to the best gross score.
The Heath Foursomes
A weekend in mid June
Alternate shot, partners drawn from a hat the Sunday before. First played in 1911, and still the one everybody wants to win.
Club Championship
Last weekend of August
Thirty-six holes of scratch strokeplay on the Saturday, then the leading eight play it out at matchplay on the Sunday.
Mixed Sunday fourballs
Third Sunday, May to September
Better-ball Stableford with partners drawn at 08:30, bacon rolls at the turn and a long lunch on the terrace afterwards.
Winter league
November to February, final in March
Pairs matchplay on Sunday mornings, two matches a month, off temporary tees when the course needs a rest.
Ladies’ section
Tuesday competitions from 09:00
Tuesday is ladies’ day, with a competition every week and lunch after. Silver and Bronze divisions, the Autumn Foursomes, a county league side and a spring trip away to a links course.
Seniors
Thursday roll-up 08:00 · from age 60
Twelve holes in winter, eighteen in summer, and a coffee that tends to run into lunch. A monthly Seniors’ Stableford and home and away matches with a dozen Surrey and Berkshire clubs.
Juniors
Saturday Academy · weekday afternoons
Coached through the Academy on Saturday mornings, then out on the course from 14:00 on weekdays in term time. At a handicap of 20 or under, juniors play the club competitions alongside everyone else.
Six weeks
to election
Most of it is golf. There is no interview and no exam, just a few rounds and a coffee with the people who run the club.

Come as a member’s guest, or book a weekday visitor time. Most people know within a round whether the heath suits them.

Proposer and seconder
Two members of at least two years’ standing, who have played with you, sign your application form.
- Weeks 1–2
A trial round
Eighteen holes with two members of the Membership Committee. Nobody is judging your swing; they want to know you will enjoy the place and look after it.
- Week 3
Meet Helen Marsh
Coffee with the Secretary, a walk round the clubhouse and the locker rooms, and a chance to ask about anything from lockers to the waiting list.
- Week 6
Committee election
The committee meets on the first Monday of each month, so most applicants hear within six weeks. Your first direct debit starts the month after.

For Full seven-day there usually is, and at present it is about twelve months. Five-day, Intermediate, Country and Junior places are normally filled within the six-week election cycle, and Five-day members move across to seven-day in the order they applied, which is how many people start.
